Change Lives in North Haven, CT

North Haven – The year begins on a high note for thousands of animal shelters nationwide, like The Animal Haven that will receive donations for the 2007 Tree of Hope fundraiser, hosted by PETCO and the PETCO Foundation.
The 36-day campaign generated more than $2.5 million from donations given by the company’s customers, vendors and associates.  This year, Animal Haven received funds donated at the PETCO store at Universal Drive in North Haven.
Local proceeds of $1,556.00 from the Tree of Hope will be used by Animal Haven to care for the homeless dogs and cats at the shelter.

PETCO is a privately held specialty retailer that provides products, services and advice that make it easier for customers to be great pet parents.  They operate more than 850 stores in 49 states and the District of Columbia, as well as a leading pet products and information destination at www.petco.com.  The nonprofit organization, the PETCO Foundation, has raised more than $37 million since its inception in 1999 to help promote and improve the welfare of companion animals.  In conjunction with the Foundation, they work with and support more than 4,700 local animal welfare groups across the country to help find homes for more than 200,000 animals every year.
The Animal Haven takes in adoptable homeless cats and dogs and takes pride in matching them in loving permanent homes. Since 1948, The Animal Haven has been proudly serving the people and orphaned pets in Greater New Haven.  The Animal Haven is a 501© nonprofit organization that gets funding solely from private donations and numerous fund raising events.
The Animal Haven is a no-kill shelter where the community can relinquish orphaned dogs and cats for a small donation.  In 2007, The Animal Haven entered 261 pets (168 cats and 93 dogs) from 25 CT towns. The Animal Haven is a shelter that adopts lifetime companions to well matched permanent homes. In 2007, 303 pets (192 cats & 111dogs) were adopted to caring homes in 39 CT towns.
