Equine Affaire Coming This November

This November will mark the ten-year anniversary of the Equine Affaire. The Equine Affaire, which will run November 8-11, 2007 at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield Massachusetts, is the largest equine exposition in the East.  The Equine Affaire represents all equestrian disciplines and a wide number of horse breeds, and is attended by over one hundred thousand spectators over the 4-day period! Attendees come from not just the New England area but from all over the United States and Canada too.
The event includes demonstrations and presentations by hundreds of the equine industry’s top trainers and professionals from around the country. Dozens of horse breed associations as well as individual horse owners and farm owners will be on hand with breed demonstrations, in-hand presentations, and exhibits promoting their breed.  The year’s event will also include, for the first time ever, The Equine Affaire Versatile Horse and Rider Competition. It will be a timed and judged race through an obstacle course created to test communication between horse and rider as well as horsemanship skills.  Competitors will compete for thousands of dollars in cash prizes.
The Equine Affaire also has a special Youth Pavilion where young riders and equestrians can learn about horses, horse care and training. Youth activities will include stick horse making, a stick horse rodeo, the Equine Affaire Coloring Book of Breeds, model horse painting, trivia, and more.
The Equine Affaire also hosts a huge trade show with over 400 vendors selling every equine related product imaginable.  Tack, apparel, trailers, barn, fencing, horse care products, gifts, jewelry, videos, books and art can all be found in over 4 buildings at the Eastern States Exposition.
There are over 225 clinics, seminars, and presentations planned on a variety of topics that appeal to horse-enthusiasts of all levels.  Well known clinicians from across the country will give clinics on a variety of disciplines including dressage, eventing, driving, general horsemanship, distance competition, reining, western pleasure, barrel racing, and pole bending, just to name a few. Seminar topics include homeopathic remedies, equine business plans, horse and rider biomechanics, equine dentistry, drawing horses, pilates for riders, horse behavior analysis, equine first aid, massage and chiropractic work, equine schools and careers, and equine trailering and hauling safety.
As always the Equine Affaire will hold its annual Pfizer Fantasia, an evening event that showcases the beauty and versatility of the horse. The event will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening in the Coliseum. The event features a multitude of equestrian acts set to music, and typically sells out long before the Equine Affaire begins (most attendees order their tickets mid-summer).  Friday and Saturday tickets are limited, but Thursday tickets may still be available.
