Rabbits, Rabbits, Everywhere!

Did you know that rabbits are the 3rd most surrendered pets to shelters? Do you know that rabbits, yes, do breed like rabbits, and two can turn into hundreds in a very short time?
Rabbits are in danger of losing their lives everyday. Rescues and shelters cannot keep up with all of the rabbits whose lives need to be saved. Education is so important. Spaying and neutering is a must. Domestic rabbits will die outside in the wild. They do not have the wild rabbit instincts to survive in the wild. So when humans breed on purpose or by accident, and then decide they don't want the rabbits anymore, where do they go? Many shelters don't take them. The ones that do as well as the rabbit rescues are always full over capacity trying to save as many as possible.
So, how many others do you think will have a 2nd chance on life? Many rescues and shelters have waiting lists and plead for someone to foster a rabbit until one can get adopted into a good home, so another can be saved.
Rabbits are very smart, clean and have such great individual personalities. Many have been mistreated or neglected. But, what amazes me is that they learn to trust again when they find a loving, proper forever home. In my volunteer work, I have met many rabbits who I was so thankful were able to be saved and find a forever home instead of having their life ended for no reason. They are little creatures with such warm souls that teach us humans many things about life. When I talk about domestic pet rabbits, I am always referring to House Rabbits. I believe they need to be house pets and live inside the house with their humans.
