Lazicki’s Bird House & Rescue Part of
"Birdies For Charity"

East Hartford – Charity begins on the golf course at the 2006 Buick Championship kicked off their charity-based fundraising initiative "Birdies For Charity".
Diane and Steve Lazicki, founders of Lazicki’s Bird House and Rescue, in East Hartford, is excited to be part of this event. "When we heard about Birdies for Charity, we signed up right away. What could be better than ‘birdies’ helping ‘birdies"?
Lazicki’s Bird House & Rescue is a non-profit organization located in East Hartford, dedicated to rehabilitating abandoned or unwanted exotic birds.
Under the Birdie’s for Charity program, individuals and/or corporations pledge a penny, or more, per birdie made by the TOUR Pros during the 2006 Buick Championship. To add to the fun, special prizes will be given out for guessing the exact number of birdies. WTIC Newstalk 1080 will provide daily "Birdies" updates during the Buick Championship, June 28 through July 2.
What makes it even better is that the Buick Championship collects the pledges and distributes 100% of the donations directly to the designated charity. "It makes it easy for us and donors to play because the Jaycees handle all the administrative duties" said Diane Lazicki. "That’s really important for us, because we’re still a small organization."
The PGA TOUR Pros will score between 1500 and 2200 birdies from Wednesday through Sunday at the 2006 Buick Championship, June 28 through July 2. If 1500 birdies are made at the 2006 Buick Championship, donors who pledge 1 cent per birdie donate $15 to their charity; when 2 cents is pledged, the charity will receive a $30 donation.
Lazicki’s Bird House & Rescue is also participating in the Chip In For Charity ticket fundraising program, which is offering tickets to the event for $20, half the normal price.
