The Connecticut Cares for Cats Conference

By Tamara Sevigny

Why are so many cats homeless and struggling to survive on the streets, in vacant buildings, dumps and parks? How can your community bring an end to feline homelessness?
The Connecticut Cares for Cats Conference will answer these questions and more by bringing together experts from around the nation to discuss successful and humane solutions to feline overpopulation on November 12 in Cromwell.
This event is presented by the Animal Welfare Federation of Connecticut and the Petco Foundation. Experts from around the nation will be there to discuss solutions to managing feline overpopulation and the states biggest challenge: stray and feral overpopulation.

Some of the topics covered will include:

- The most successful and humane programs to reduce stray and feral cat population.
- Spay/Neuter programs that work.
- Life saving programs that can benefit animal control officers.
- How to build trap-neuter-return programs with long term benefits.
While no single organization can cure the problems, by working together we can make a difference in improving the standard of care for felines in the state. A stronger social influence is created as well as access to an increasing number of educational and funding sources. In addition, cooperative efforts can create more effective solutions and programs.
The Animal Welfare Federation believes that a no kill community can be created in Connecticut if we work together. Whether you are an animal welfare professional or an individual who cares about cats, you will benefit from the practical advice and information from people who are creating innovative, life-saving changes for companion and feral animals. Find out how your community can help bring an end to feline homelessness.
